Data management
Where your documents are, who can read them, how to take them back or erase them. In plain words.
These are the commitments of the beta. Some are still being built (encrypting every file of the document server, exporting a whole account); this page will be reviewed before the beta opens and will say what is in place.
Your documents are with us, encrypted, in France
Paginel keeps every document you open or create, with its history, so that you find it on all your devices and your guests can work on it. They are encrypted on disk and in backups.
SharePoint documents also stay in SharePoint
With the SharePoint connector (coming soon), Paginel saves your changes there, in each person’s name; SharePoint remains the reference for your permissions. Paginel also keeps the history and what Word cannot carry: sections, the people in charge of them, agents.
You can take everything back and erase everything
- Export a document as
.docx, Markdown or PDF, or your whole account at once. - Removing a document from your list erases it from our servers.
- Deleting your account erases everything, backups included, within 30 days.
Inactive free accounts
After 12 months without signing in, the documents of a free account are erased. We write to you one month before.
On your device
Your browser or the app keeps a copy of the document so that you can work offline. It stays with you, and you can erase it.
What else we keep
- Your account: name, address, sign-in methods, licence.
- Billing, once payment exists (after the beta).
- An access log, for security: sign-ins, guests joining, refused attempts, with the IP address and the browser, never any content; kept 180 days. [to be completed: duration to confirm]
- If you accept them, anonymous usage statistics of the app: how many times each button, menu, keyboard shortcut and view is used, per day. Never your text, your account or your IP address. You accept or refuse them the first time you open the app, and change your mind in the Help menu (Aide › Statistiques d’usage anonymes); a browser that asks not to be tracked is never counted. Counts kept 25 months. [to be completed: to confirm]
Where, and with whom
Our servers are in France. Our processors: the hosting provider, backup storage, email delivery (Brevo) and, after the beta, payment (Paddle, in the United Kingdom, a country the European Union recognises as “adequate”). If you sign in with Microsoft or Google, sign-in goes through their services, in the United States; the email link and passkeys avoid this.
Detailed, up-to-date list of processors: [to be completed: name, role and country of each processor].
What we do not do
Read your documents, sell them, train a model on them. The server opens them only to make them work: merging changes, enforcing locks, exporting.
AI agents
When you connect an agent to a document, its provider receives the content the agent reads. Paginel sends it to no model on its own.
Your rights
You can export, correct and delete your data, and write to us about it (Contact). For organisations: a data processing agreement (GDPR article 28), since Paginel stores their documents. The details are in the privacy policy.
With us, on a dedicated server, or with you
This page describes Paginel hosted by us, in France. For companies, later: a dedicated server run by us, or Paginel installed on your own machine. In that case, your documents never pass through us.
